What Is Normal

• Dark brown or deep purple patches — natural pigmentation from sun exposure during drying. These are common and expected.
• Small dark flecks or speckles — mineral deposits or naturally occurring pigment variations in the algae. Completely normal.
• Uneven coloring across the batch — wildcrafted sea moss grows in varied ocean conditions, so no two pieces look exactly alike. Color ranges from golden yellow to dark brown to purple-black.

Warning Signs — When to Reach Out or Discard

• Fuzzy or powdery growth on the surface — this is a sign of mold and the product should not be used. Contact us immediately.
• Strong sour or off odor — properly dried sea moss has a mild, briny ocean scent. An unpleasant or sour smell is not normal.
• Slimy texture on dry product — dry sea moss should feel firm and slightly stiff. If your unopened, dry product feels slimy or wet, something went wrong in storage or transit.

Storage Guidance

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep sealed between uses. Properly stored, your raw sea moss will retain quality for up to 12 months. Once soaked, consume your sea moss gel within 3–4 weeks refrigerated.
