Jamaican Sea Moss Powder 8oz – Wildcrafted Irish Sea Moss for Smoothies, Teas & Recipes
RastaMan Stew Jamaican Sea Moss Powder is 100% wildcrafted sea moss, dried and milled fine so it stirs straight into food and drinks. The pouch holds 8 oz and reseals.
What Sea Moss Powder Is
Sea moss is a sea vegetable harvested from the shallow coastal waters around Jamaica. It is rinsed, sun-dried and then milled, so the powder is simply the whole dried plant in a finer form.
Nothing is added and nothing is extracted. It is a single-ingredient sea vegetable, in the same family of pantry items as dried nori or kelp.

How to Use It
Stir one teaspoon into a smoothie, juice or tea and blend or whisk until it disperses. The powder takes a few seconds to hydrate properly.
In cooking it behaves as a thickener. A teaspoon will give body to a soup, a stew or a sauce in much the same way cornstarch does.
Making Sea Moss Gel from the Powder
Whisk two tablespoons of powder into one cup of warm water and leave it to stand for about twenty minutes until it sets.
Keep the gel in a sealed jar in the fridge and use it within two weeks. It can be spooned into drinks, porridge or baking.
Flavour Notes
Sea moss powder is mild with a gentle oceanic note, far softer than nori or dulse. In a flavoured smoothie it is close to undetectable.
Citrus, mango, pineapple and ginger cover it completely if you would rather not taste it at all.
Storage
Keep the pouch sealed in a cool, dry cupboard. Moisture is the enemy of a milled sea vegetable, so close it promptly and keep it away from the sink and the kettle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is sea moss powder the same as Irish moss?
The two names are used interchangeably in the Caribbean. Both refer to dried sea vegetable harvested from coastal waters.
Should I choose powder or raw sea moss?
Powder is faster because there is no soaking or blending. Raw dried sea moss is the traditional form and makes a larger batch of gel at once.
How much powder makes a cup of gel?
About two tablespoons of powder to one cup of warm water.
Does it dissolve completely?
It disperses rather than dissolves. Blending or brisk whisking gives the smoothest result.
Where is it harvested?
It is wildcrafted from Jamaican coastal waters and sun-dried before milling.
